You can support our organization by volunteering! The PSAI needs members from varied backgrounds, locations and points of view to help us build a stronger association through volunteerism.
The PSAI currently has about 40 consistently committed volunteers, as well as many others who assist the
organization on a time-limited basis in connection with specific initiatives and events.

Committees Seeking Volunteers
Below is a list of the PSAI committees that are seeking volunteers, their roles and their chairs.
Public Information, Education & Advocacy Committee (EI)
Role: Support outreach and engagement at both the public and industry levels to increase knowledge of and respect for our industry. Carry out initiatives related to industry promotion as described in the PSAI’s Strategic and Business Plans and suggest additional initiatives as circumstances evolve.
Co-Chairs: Martin Zeltner and Jennifer Corrigan
Standards & Industry Guidance Committee (SGI)
Role: Research, develop and recommend industry standards that serve the best interests of the public and raise the image of the portable sanitation industry. Provide guidance on company implementation and on engaging with local lawmakers/decision-makers to promote adoption of the standards. Carry out initiatives related to standards and industry guidance as described in the PSAI’s strategic and operating plans and suggest additional initiatives as circumstances evolve.

Training Committee (TCI)
Role: Develop and deliver industry-specific training materials, sessions and curricula that support industry members seeking to fulfill the requirements of local jurisdictions for personal continuing education or the attainment/maintenance of professional certification/licensure. Investigate and recommend methods of delivering information that maintain high standards but make training material widely available. Carry out initiatives related to training as described in the PSAI’s strategic and operating plans and suggest additional initiatives as circumstances evolve.

Members’ Business & Success Committee (MSI)
Role: Research, develop and/or adapt materials, tools and business benchmarks to support PSAI members seeking to grow and strengthen their businesses. Investigate and recommend potential affinity programs and partnerships to enhance members’ access to beneficial resources. Carry out initiatives related to training as described in the PSAI’s strategic and operating plans and suggest additional initiatives as circumstances evolve.

Events Committee
Role: Develop the business plan and content of PSAI member events and actively support their success.
Chair: Jeff Wigley
Ad Hoc Committee on the Convention & Trade Show/SWAT Team
Role: Work with all relevant stakeholders to increase the relevance, attendance and quality of the PSAI’s Annual Convention and Trade Show.

Ad Hoc Task Teams
Role: Support the Executive Director in responding to emerging opportunities or operating plan objectives as specified in a project charter.

Role: Organize the work of the Board of Directors and take action between Board meetings if necessary.

Role: Provide strategic financial oversight for the association and review issues for presentation to the Board of Directors in summary form.

Role: Select the best-qualified representatives from among the full, active membership to serve as candidates for the Board of Directors.

Awards Committee
Role: Administer all PSAI awards and review the existing awards scheme to determine the need for modifications, eliminations, suspensions or additions of awards.

Affiliated Arm’s Length Committees
Certification Commission
Role: To establish and administer credible certification programs to further the interests of the industry and the public.

Scholarship Commission
Role: To administer a credible scholarship program to further the interests of the industry and the public.

Ad Hoc Advisory Councils
International Advisory Council
Role: Provide information and insight into industry trends in regions outside the United States to inform strategic direction and decision-making for the PSAI. Recommend approaches that will engage the PSAI with operators and suppliers outside the United States. Interface effectively within the larger association to ensure integration between local strategies and those of the PSAI as a whole.
Past Presidents Advisory Council
Role: Advise the President and, through the President, the full Board of Directors on matters concerning the PSAI’s mission and membership. Support the association’s strategic objectives, working with staff and elected volunteer leaders to bring about the successful realization of the PSAI’s mission.
